FAIR TAXATION

I have learnt to advocate for prudent use of your tax dollars through the following committees and Board positions:
  • Seguin Township Finance Committee member appointed 2014.
  • Otter lake Ratepayers’ Association (OLRA) Board of Director/Treasurer appointed 2014 and Membership Director since 2017.
  • Federation of Ontario Cottagers’ Associations (FOCA) Board of Director since 2017/appointed Vice-President in May 2018 and Finance Committee member.
​Through my professional experience and participation in these three committees/Board position, I have uncovered issues that required thorough discussion and analysis, resulting in either cost savings and/or more efficient use of your tax dollars.  I am able to bring forward issues and will continue to advocate for Seguin Township to be fiscally responsible with your tax dollars!

ENVIRONMENT

My concern for the Environment and The Natural Place to Be has:
  • Led me to earn the Otter Lake Stewardship Flag, which recognizes residents for keeping their property as natural as possible and respecting the existing ecology and attempting to minimize their human footprint.  For more information, please see this link.
  • Led me to lead OLRA in drafting a response to the Clean, Clear and Safe by-law, which balances the needs of the environment and the needs of the residents as part of Seguin Township's public consultation process.
​Each resident needs to do their part to ensure Seguin Township continues to be The Natural Place to Be for future generations.  As your councillor, I will help to ensure the Township provides the resources and educates residents to protect their environment.

REVITALIZE AND GROW SEGUIN TOWNSHIP

To Revitalize and Grow Seguin Township, I will look for:
  • Opportunities to bring high speed internet to Seguin Township, for instance, integrating it into Seguin's infrastructure as changes are made.
  • Opportunities to expand the natural gas infrastructure system.
  • Opportunities to expand the economic development mandate, with a vision into the future for business creation.
Seguin Township Council should set the strategy and the direction for the township, which includes being creative and looking for opportunities to grow its population, commercial area and tax base.​​
